A typo cost someone $300k.

Bored Ape Yacht Club #4418

Someone accidentally sold a Bored Ape NFT for $3,000 instead of $300,000”.

What a humongous mistake.

That is almost equivalent of accidentally dropping a $300k bottle of Yamazaki 50-Year-Old on the floor.

Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs are one of the hottest NFTs around.

They used to average around 75 Eth (that is about USD $300k) a few weeks ago.

Now, its selling for around 90 Eth (USD $350k).

People buy it hoping to flip and make a quick buck.

So turns out someone accidentally entered 0.75 Eth instead of 75 Eth and a bot immediately bought it.

It even paid 8 Eth in gas fee to ensure the transaction goes through instantly.

Not surprisingly, it was then put back up on the market for $250k.

Seems like a crazy mistake right?

Or was it?

Hypothetically, if I were a marketer, this is marketing gold.

Imagine this.

I want to get on the news and hit the headlines.

What can I do?

Jump on a buzzy trend like NFT!

All you got to do is set up a fake wallet and sell the Bored Ape NFT to yourself.

Price it low enough and you will definitely make the news.

Of course there is a real possibility that some other bot would buy it before you do.

In that case, good luck.

So given that this happened on an open marketplace like OpenSea, where every transaction is on the blockchain and transparent to all, as seen here, you can imagine it is pretty real.

The poor guy really made a gargantuan mistake and priced it wrongly.

I genuinely feel sad for him.

There is literally no way he could ever get his NFT or money back.

This is crypto-world.

Be very cautious and alert.

There is no sleeping on the wheel and each transactions is irreversible.

Vicious people with their bots are out there to get your money.

Then again, I am curious about how to set up bots like that.

There will be so many “errors” that would be made.

So many new comers into the crypto space and so many mistakes to be made.

I am curious about the economics of such bots and how much do they make!
