Well said.

Amateurs give advice. Professionals diagnose.

Ask questions, to figure out the problems.

You ever see doctors or interior designers immediately handing out end-solutions without asking a ton of questions?

If they do, stay far away from them.

Dig, uncover, ask why, throw out probes before throwing out suggestions.

Don’t try to “solve” the problem before you even establish that there is one.

Don’t jump to conclusions and assume anything.

It’s a game.

Whoever asks for questions wins.

This works for B2B and B2C sales.

But don’t be irritating or ask the exact same questions repeatedly.

Shift around, rephrase, reframe the problem and give them time to ponder before replying.

A client or user who appreciates and understands the problem (even without a solution) is more valuable than one who simply loves the solution without understanding the problem.

Speak less, ask more questions.
