Former Olympic kayaker Nathan Baggaley has recently been jailed for 25 years for trying to smuggle up to USD $150m worth of cocaine into Australia in 2018.
I bet you re-read that twice.
Me too.
I really thought it was a meme.
Olympic medalist Kayaker going out to open waters for 11 hours to meet with a foreign ship to collect drugs.
I wondered if he kayaked his way there.
He is a three-times world champion and a double medalist in the Olympics.
He is obviously talented beyond belief and a trained athlete.
Why would he throw it all away for smuggling cocaine and narcotics?
Isn’t discipline a fundamental core value of an athlete?
And nope, it was not a one-off mistake.
He and his brother has been convicted for drug chargers in 2009.
They had made elaborate plans and schemed plenty of sophistications in carrying out the drug smuggling operations.
Do you know how much is 1 gram of Cocaine worth?
The answer is that drugs are NEVER worth anything.
So don’t even bother.
It really pains me to see how obviously talented and gifted people throw they life away recklessly.
