Even tiny Octo needs a home too

Coconut Octopus and its coconut.

Everyone need a home, even if its a plastic cup that is non-biodegradable and possibly toxic to the environment.

What is your reaction when you see an octopus using a plastic cup as a means of protection?

Do you see a natural behavior of self-defense mechanism exhibited by an ocean-going creature in its natural habitat?

Do you see a picture of just how bad human’s pollution and rampant use of plastic is damaging the natural environment?

Do you see the fact that it does not matter whether you are a human, fish or marine creature with 8 limbs, everyone needs a home and is entitled to one.

Coconut octopus are cute and tiny cephalopods that are known for their extensive use of shells and hard debris as a means to protect themselves.

They really are quite smart as the shells are tough and aplenty in the ocean floor where they dwell.

Besides feeding on clams and shellfishes, they have grown to be able to utilize the empty shells as a means of camouflage and protection thereafter.

Nature is simple and beautiful.

Let us all try to do our part to keep it that way.

Remember, we are sharing the earth and its remarkable resources with everything, biotic and abiotic.

Even it is just tiny actions of using less plastic or starting a green campaign in your local neighborhood, every action will compound in time to come.

That is why sustainability will be a part of our endeavors in all that we do moving forward, including the programs and hackathons we run.
