If you ever saw the rise of Wework and said it was awesome.
If you ever heard of what Adam did and approved it.
If you were blinded just by how fast Wework was growing.
If you were ever impressed by how much Wework was valued at.
If you were ever lucky enough to meet Adam Neumann personally.
You should be so lucky.
Forget the small-timers and local scam artists.
This might just be the evil genius of the 21st century.
After all the shenanigans and deceit, he walked away from WeWork with nearly half a billion, all the while when employees were let go and offices shuttering.
There are so many weird things Adam Neumann did.
These are my favourite 5:
- He walks around barefoot, all over New York City, dressed sloppily, looking like he walks on water.
- He has a trail of support staff following him everywhere, including a hairdresser and a stylist who had flown in specially from New York to Los Angeles especially for the 2019 summit
- He and his entourage smoked so much weed on a private jet that the pilots and flight attendants had to use the emergency oxygen masks to breathe.
- He spent $60m on a private jet for his 40th birthday party in the Maldives.
- He put a ban on meat. Whatever that meant, because no one understood what Adam meant by that and he was caught eating meat on many occasions.
Gosh that photo of him walking around the streets of NYC barefoot, clutching a phone and completely casual just cracks me up.
He really might think that he is special, with powers to dodge bullets and levitate and all that.
Oh and if you think he is bad, wait till you hear about his wife.
She has been reported to fire people minutes after meeting them because of the “lack of energy” and is a stronger believer in pseudo-science.
Wonder if that has anything to do with being Gwyneth Paltrow’s cousin.
Not to mention that disaster with WeGrow.
Of course, we have to be objective.
Was there anything wrong with WeWork? Not really.
It was really Adam people had a problem with, and rightly so.
Whatever you do, founders and startup folks, do not follow what Adam did.
