The Cyberlandr has sold preorders worth $80m. It is a futuristic, stylish pop-up camper add-on for the CyberTruck.
It is just a few months after they launched it.
They already have a few thousand pre-orders.
The Cyberlandr is basically a unit you attach to the back of the CyberTruck and it provide you space to sleep, eat, cook, read and enjoy life outdoors.
It’s perfect for the wilderness that Westerners love.
It even has a 32 inch TV for your Netflix while you campfire under the stars drinking a bud light.
To his credit, the founder thought of the idea when he realized that none of the existing RV or camper would fit the unique shape of the Tesla CyberTruck.
Smart.
Sounds amazing.
But there is a huge catch.
The CyberTruck Elon promised, has not even been released yet.
And no surprises, Elon already announced that the CyberTruck will be officially be delayed to 2022.
Exactly how do you design a camper to fit a vehicle that is not even in production and with no known production specs yet?
And we all know how different production vehicles can be from their concepts.
So Cyberlandr basically sold $80m worth of concept on a concept truck Elon dreamt up.
What’s new.
At this point, we are just entertained by Elon’s marketing antics and watching his sell the hype.
But to actually ride that hype and profit from it.
Now that is very impressive.
Almost brilliant.
What the Cyberlandr did was clever.
It rode on people’s imagination, Tesla’s amazing brand value and the confidence they have on Elon, the biggest Hypeman of the 21st century.
And they marketed it well.
And the armies of Elon Musk bought it.
I am unsure which of it impressed me more.
The fact that someone actually identified the opportunity before anyone else did and jumped on it.
Or the fact that Elon’s fans are true fanatics who have spending power beyond belief.
Either way, these are the stories you will only hear in America.
No wonder they call it the land of opportunity.
How far do can you take things?
