How long does it take you to run 100 miles?

100 miles is no joke.

Aleksandr “Sania” Sorokin**: The First Human To Run 100 Miles In Under 11 Hours.**

That is not a typo or a mistake.

100 miles is about 160km.

Yes running 100 miles is actually a thing.

Yes someone actually can complete the 100 miles and in record time.

It is pure insanity to me that any living thing can accomplish that distance at all.

A car, one of the most efficient form of transportation know to man, travelling at 50mph (nearly 80kph) would take 2 hours to complete that.

End to end, Singapore is 50km long.

Sania just ran from the east to west of Singapore 3 times, in under 11 hours.

A stoic, steel mind fuelled by pure, unadulterated determination.

My utmost respect for Sania and his mind-blowing achievements.

For the runners who enjoy the stats.

Sania was clocking 4mins 3seconds per km.

Nearly 15km per hour.

More impressively, with his pace, he completed the 1/2 marathon in 1:25:26 and the full marathon in 2:50:51.

A few things I observed about distance running, as I begin running a bit more.

Pretty sure plenty of people around the world are doing so given the pandemic.

  1. Good running takes time.

A lot of time.

Most of the best distance runners are older than 30 and spent a lifetime building up their physique, running form and mileage.

Sania is 39 yrs old and Eliud Kipchoge is 37!

2. To run fast, run slower.

Pace yourself for the long-term.

You may feel like a snail when you start, but after a few months or a year, you will start realising just how much faster you were than before.

Running slow, adding distance in tiny increments and allowing your body to recover is the secret EVERY elite runner swears by.

3. Now is always the best time to start running.

There is no good time to start.

1km, 2.4km or 10km, it really does not matter.

Just start running, jogging, brisk walking, strolling if you can.

Cardio is the universally-accepted answer to the all things in life.

When in doubt, go workout!
