If you search “Fortitude” in the dictionary, his face will appear.

No, I am not talking about Mike Tyson or Donald Trump.

I am talking about Dr Yeo Sow Nam.

He was the doctor that was accused of molesting a women at this clinic.

The women claimed Dr Yeo has molested her 4 times at his clinic.

During the trial, she admitted several times that she lied while testifying in court.

Dr Yeo spent more than $600k in legal fees .

There are so many contentions with the case and I will not go through them.

It is just so painful to read what he had to go through.

The shame, humiliation, mental stress and so on.

Further, it seems that the prosecutors will not be releasing any information on the alleged victim’s name due to a gag order.

They will not be charging her for anything, even after she lied under oath in court.

I really do not see where the “justice” is in this at all.

Despite all the pains and perjury he endured, Dr Yeo said:

“However, I am also disappointed that with her lies, the complainant has jeopardised the good, necessary, and difficult work of ensuring access to justice for real victims of sex crimes, many of whom already hesitate to accuse their attackers publicly,”

“I hope that today’s verdict does not discourage real victims of sex crimes from coming forward, or set back the moral agenda in their favour.”

This is fortitude.

This is what real men do.

This doctor is an example for all.

I feel so bad for Dr Yeo, for all he had to go through and the needless suffering he endured.

I understand that the justice system is not infallible.

It is there to safeguard the victims and protect us all.

But in such a painful, unjust situation, how is it fair for Dr Yeo?

The time spent, the psychological hurt he suffered, the price he paid and the shame hung on his head unceremoniously.

Who fights for his injustice then?

It really got me thinking, this is a well-respected doctor.

He has an illustrious, stable career, probably fairly wealthy, well-educated and has the means to defend himself in court.

Can you imagine for the rest of us who does not have the money, background or standing?

What happens what such situation befalls onto us then?

Who will fight for us then?

It’s a harrowing thought.

But my takeaway is: be smart and don’t do the wrong thing.

Startups and founders, don’t take short cuts and play the long game intelligently.

Cutting corners, taking the easy way out, making excuses and going for vanity metrics can only bring you so far.

If you are in the right, justice, hopefully, will always prevail.
