Is this the coolest branding experiment of the 21st century unfolding before our eyes?
The true utility of BAYC is the community.
NFTs is not about the art or the artist.
More than a jpeg, it’s a community.
Stop laughing.
Of course the origin story, who the artist is matters and the quality of the art matters to some extent.
A community that can obviously afford such exorbitant prices.
Bored Ape #2087 sold for 769 ETH ~ USD $2.3 Million
Bored Ape #7090–600 ETH ~ $2.27 Million USD
Bored Ape #8585–697 ETH ~ $2.67 Million USD
Bored Ape #3749–740 ETH ~ $2.9 Million USD
Perhaps the club is more than just a physical entity.
It is a culture or community, intangible and effervescent.
You make believe that it exists.
Some get it.
Some will never understand it.
Like how they will never understand what Michael Jordan did to the game of Basketball or what The Beatles or Freddie Mercury did to the world of music.
The moment you touch upon culture, art or community, subjectivity comes into play.
And then beauty (or non-beauty) is entirely up to the beholder.
You get to decide what that community or NFT or art means to you.
No one else has a say.
You are the captain of your ship, master of your fate, king of your castle.
Think about it.
What brand or company can say that they gotten hundreds of world-famous artists to replace their profile pictures on all social media channels with a BAYC?
Think about the reach, awareness, brand recognition and marketing value it created overnight.
Millions of fans watching famous artists, rappers, influencers rocking an cartoony ape for their profile.
This is literally the coolest branding experiment of the 21st century unfolding before our eyes!
If it wasn’t cool before, it sure is now!
Even Paris Hilton has one!
If you can afford one, you are now part of a community, albeit ethereal and intangible, formless and shapeless.
If you can’t afford a BAYC or MAYC, there is always the ApeCoin!
Just like any other communities and fan clubs out there.
Perhaps we got to stop seeing NFTs for what it is NOW.
We got to start seeing it for what it can be in the FUTURE.
The first iteration of NFT art might be speculation, hype and scams.
But from the ashes rose the backbone of a community forged by something greater than its setbacks and failures.
Who knows what NFTs would transmute and evolve to in the future.
It might open doors to places we never knew existed.
But I sure can’t afford a BAYC now.
If you can buy the tokens, equity, stock of Yuga Labs, the team behind BAYC, do it.
Oooh and against their fans’ wishes and instead of giving power to their people, they are purportedly going for a traditional IPO instead!
What can I say, Cryptoland is full of surprises!

Would you buy shares of Yuga Labs (owners of BAYC, MeeBits and CryptoPunks)?
