Imagine this. It’s the Olympics.

World-class athletes are all geared up to compete.

The situation is tense and everyone is ready to do their very best.

One by one, the competitors start their lifts — the snatch and clean and jerk.

Then, the behemoth from Georgia (pretend you actually heard of it and know where the country is), steps up and starts his FIRST lift 8kg more than everyone else.

Lasha winning super heavyweight Gold in weightlifting.

Remember, it’s the Olympics, not some random gym session with regular joes.

It is as if he was walking in a park.

Lasha Talakhadze from Georgia, the 1.97m titan weighing more than 180kg, lifted 223kg (snatch) and 265kg (clean and jerk), breaking his own world records with each lift.

“He nailed all six of his attempts — every single one an Olympic record — and looked like he easily could have done more.”

It was literally one of the most awesome display of strength and dominance in any of the Olympic event, perhaps rivalled only by Caeleb Dressel who swam like a swordfish in water.

Oh Lasha isn’t done.

Not quite.

He is aiming for the coveted, almost impossible, phenomenal 500kg total at Paris 2024.

It is not often you see such a dominating athlete with such incredible size and weight.

He is a walking fridge but has a flexibility and mobility of some of the best Olympians.

For the uninitiated, Olympic weightlifting is one of the toughest combination lifts there is.

Unlike powerlifting where you can focus your muscles and mind on a single uni-directional lift like the benchpress, squat or deadlift, the Olympic lifts utilizes very demanding combination movements and requires great mobility in the joints, hips, back .etc

Anyone who tried it before would know how tough it is.

Just the coordination for a proper snatch is ridiculous.

Next time you think that something is impossible or cannot be done, think of Lasha and how a 180kg behemoth can be as flexible as a ballerina and strong as a grizzly bear.

Nothing is impossible.
