Robots can be adorable too.

Let’s face it: we’ve seen robots that vacuum, cook, fire a flamethrower, film and even park your car.

But a robot that clings to your bag, imitates a shy toddler, and stares at strangers?

That’s a new level of whimsical weirdness.

Mirumi, a furry little bot designed by Yukai Engineering does exactly that.

Its job?

To wiggle its head, steal glances at people, and then shyly look away when touched — basically, the robotic equivalent of a socially awkward toddler.

If that sounds like the most unnecessary invention ever, you’re not wrong.

It does exactly that and it is weird.

And yet, here we are, losing our minds over how endearing it is.

Because, apparently, nothing melts the human heart like googly eyes and bashful head tilts.

Mirumi is no multitasker.

It doesn’t vacuum floors, read bedtime stories, or help you cheat at Wordle.

It has one purpose: to make people smile.
