The marvel of good storytelling

I don’t care what industry, work, profession or passions you have. Good storytelling is like manners, you cannot afford to not have it and the better you are at it, the better you become as a person.

Christian von Koenigsegg is a great example of how great storytelling can really sell a product, inspire people, communicate what you really want and give meaningful depth to a topic.

Watching him explain and do a walk-around with the pre-production Koenigsegg Jesko really put a smile to my face.

I am by no means a car expert, but the way that Christian explains why each and every part of the Jesko is as such, with a certain silkiness and primal enthusiasm, really makes me wonder just how amazing the Jesko is in real life.

Sure he may be explaining how there is no clutch, why the exhaust notes are as such and what is the engineering principles that goes behind the aerodynamics of the curvy spoiler, but it was mesmerizing how he delivers it as part of bringing the audience with him as they enter his mind.

He wasn’t using the principles and theories to justify the car.

Rather, he was using the principles and theories to peel over the marvels of each features of the Jesko layer by layer, until you, the audience, is enthralled by the thought process and dedication put into such a magnificent piece of work.

The car name Jesko has a story.

It was named after Christian’s father, Jesko von Koenigsegg, to pay tribute to his contributions and inspiration over the years.

The paint color orange has a story.

Goes back to the CCR days in 2004, paying homage to the days when almost 50% of Koenigsegg are produced in that special range shade.

The top speed has a story.

It was designed to go fast around a track, tested to go 300mph, but still be practical. With 2 cup holders and plenty of pockets for functional day-to-day use.

The carbon fibre monocoque has a story.

Compared to previous models, it is 50mm larger, the roomiest Koenigsegg ever made, suitable for larger drivers!

It appeals to the princes and sheikhs who wants comfort as they go 0–100 in under 3 seconds.

The key fob has a story.

Customers used to complain that the Koenigsegg key fobs are gigantic and impractical to keep in their pockets.

The Jesko has slimmer, sexier key fobs that is magnetic and you can match the leather on the fob with the leather of choice of your actual car.

I have been in awe of Koenigsegg since the early days of the CC8S because it stood out from all the other supercars like a sore thumb.

But you have to marvel at Koenigsegg’s ability to story-tell and the passion they exude in all that they do.

So buck up on your story-telling skills, it will serve you well in time.
