Whatever

Don’t take yourself too seriously.

This has got to be the funniest, if not most creative pop-up I have ever seen.

It says “We value your privacy” and the 2 options are:

  1. Whatever
  2. More options.

Genius.

Who actually reads these things anymore?

“Whatever” was exactly what I was thinking when the gigantic pop-up appeared like Arishem the Celestial in Eternals, covering up everything I was trying to read.

It is so meta.

It is as if the owners of the website knew we wouldn’t read it and would think to ourselves “whatever, just get it over and done with so I can read the article” and deliberately wrote that as an option.

It made me chuckle like a pig in mud for a minute.

If you ever browsed anything on your phone or computer, you would have come across a pop-up or two.

Typically they are for privacy, asking if you are ok to let them collect data so that they can “improve your experience”.

Others are for collecting your email address so they can build their customer list.

It is irritating.

Especially after the whole GDPR thing a couple of years back, it seems like everyone is obsessed in asking for your permission for everything.

Honestly, they are done for good intention but fate loves irony.

“Cookies are small files that websites send to your device that the sites then use to monitor you and remember certain information about you — like what’s in your shopping cart on an e-commerce site, or your login information. These pop-up cookie notices all over the internet are well-meaning and supposed to promote transparency about your online privacy.”

But when every site you visit starts with a pop-up asking for permission, it becomes exhausting.

Ironically, that reduces our user experience tremendously.

How can something that was intended to make our lives better, actually made it worse?

That’s how life works don’t it?

There is not much innovation around this to be honest.

If anyone has a novel idea on how to circumvent this issue while simultaneously improving the user experience, I’m all ears.

Perhaps a universal “Whatever” button that you only click once on Google?

Kinda defeats the purpose in the first place eh?

But honestly, when was the last time you ever read a pop-up?
