Would you hide in a box for 2 hours if it means saving your life?
$120m in a box.
This story is so amazing.
Boss of a global car company worth $120m then ($70m now).
Living life like a king of a country, complete with private jets, castles and personal chauffeurs.
Caught up in a justice situation.
Allegedly unstated his annual salary and misused company funds.
Faced possibly 15 years in prison if convicted.
Authorities are crawling all over him.
Fled the country in a private jet hidden inside a box meant for large musical equipment.
He literally stayed in the box for 1.5 hours as 2 men posing as musicians travelled through the airport.
He changed the way he dressed, walked, talked in order to blend in with the commoners.
All because Lebanon has no extradition treaty with Japan.
He lives under armed guards in Beirut for now and as you can imagine, it isn’t so bad when you are worth tens of millions.
All the others who helped him escape face sever jail terms.
Ironic that everyone else went to jail and not the man in question.
I guess the rich are really different.
The rich and powerful, they live on different terms.
They make their own terms.
Then, Ghosn will probably go on to make millions from a book deal, public appearances and maybe even a movie.
BBC already made a documentary on him.
The few that helped him escape will probably go to jail for a long time.
Life is unfair.
The real life is even worst.
Without knowing the full details, it is impossible to say what Ghosn should have done or not done.
I just find it amazing that Ghosn manage to get himself in that sticky situation and got himself out of it.
